We begin the journey by heading to the South from Yerevan – through Ararat Province to Vayots Dzor Province – and will come closer to Ararat's piedmont near Armenian-Turkish border. As we know, the most famous symbol for Armenians – Mount Ararat isn't located on the territory of Republic of Armenia. Nonetheless, Khor Virap offers the best view to admire the mount. Tatev Monastery is an exclusive masterpiece of Armenian architecture. It is one of the oldest spiritual centers of medieval Armenia, as well as the largest university of its time. Due to the construction of Tatev, the longest ropeway in the world (5,7km), from Halidzor to Tatev, the monastery complex is now available to everyone and has become one of the most visited places in Armenia.
