On this tour you will visit Alley of Letters that was built in honor to the 1600th anniversary of the creation of Armenian alphabet. This monument is unique not only in Armenia, but all around the world. Next stop is Amberd. Amberd fortress is simply stunning. The site is loved because it is one of the last standing remainders of Armenia's royal past. As you approach it through steel hairpin turns, you realize that you are up for an amazing sight. The fortress and the adjacent church date to the 10th century, the fortress was partially destoyed by Mongol invaders around year 1236. In its golden years it was a primary defense point for the ancient Armenia capital Ani. The view is mesmerizing, as you gaze down into a deep valley, you realize how powerfull the nature is. Further we will drive to Kari Lake (Stone Lake). Lake Kari is an alpine lake in Armenia, situated on the slopes of Mount Aragats.
Mount Aragats is considered to be the highest point of the Republic of Armenia at 4090 m from sea level. The circumference of the base is about 200 km, and the mount occupies 4,000 km2 with its roaring slopes. Aragats has been one of the largest volcanoes in the world. Then continue trip to the Monastery of Saghmosavank (XII-XIIIcc). A wonderful view on the gorge of the Kasakh river.
